Documentation about Virtual Machines
As virtual machine platform, I use Hyper-V as built into
Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit. I had used VirtualPC under Windows Vista
before.
I am using various virtual machines:
- Windows 10 itself to test software in a "sand box" like environment.
- Debian Linux based and
TinyCore Linux based, to securely browse
the web.
Since version 1803, Windows 10 offers the Edge browser in the
"Application Guard" secure environment. This is also using virtual
machine technology. Zu securely browse the web, I use:
- Edge in Application Guard, if I need Edge functionality
- File exchange is achieved in via a special folder
- Clipboard data exchange can be enabled in Application Guard
- Firefox in a Debian VM. This allows me to test my web pages using
the Firefox browser
- File exchange is done using FTP
- The Debian VM can also exchange data via the clipboard, as the
Linux-GUI is provided by XRDP (not by X-Org), which integrates
well with Windows.
